Cost Savings: U.S. Communities is able to leverage the purchasing power of public agencies nationwide to effectively reduce the cost of purchased goods. There are no minimum orders, which enables the smaller public agencies to purchase goods at volume discounts that they would not normally obtain. Perhaps best of all, there is no cost for agencies to participate.

Competitively Solicited: U.S. Communities contracts are competitively solicited through lead public agencies. Included in the solicitations is language that advises all suppliers that the subsequent contract may be used by agencies throughout the United States. The language is based on the lead jurisdiction "Joint Powers of Authority" or "Cooperative Procurement" program. The competitive principles of the contract satisfy the competitive bid requirements for most state and local government agencies.

Administrative Savings: Due to the competitive nature of U.S. Communities contracts, members need not issue solicitations to purchase goods. This effectively reduces the cost of bid evaluations, tabulation and all other expenses associated with the open bid process.

Directed by Public Purchasing Professionals: The U.S Communities Advisory Board, made up of purchasing professionals nationwide, helps manage and guide the direction of the program.
